The Forestburgh Playhouse, a non-profit organization, employs over 100 artists and staff each year, many coming right from our very own Sullivan Catskills.
In addition, each year, the Playhouse hires a Resident Company of actors and a resident technical staff from conservatories and graduate programs across the country to design, create and perform in our mainstage productions and more—giving young artists the opportunity to hone their craft in a professional environment
The Forestburgh Playhouse Academy provides year-round arts education workshops, camps, classes and opportunities for local youth. The Academy provides robust support for underserved communities by offering complete scholoarships to aspiring young artists.
Each year, the Playhouse presents the In-The Works-In the Woods Festival, which encompasses a week of rehearsals and development of new theatrical works, including a new musical, play, children's theatre piece, original cabarets and more. During the Festival weekend, patrons attend presentations of the pieces, theatre celebrity Q&As, special events and so much more!
As a cultural destination in The Sullivan Catskills, the Playhouse enriches the area by providing live arts and entertainment, positively impacting the community economically and culturally.

Since 1947, the Forestburgh Playhouse has been producing professional theatre for the residents of and visitors to Sullivan County. The Forestburgh Playhouse is a non-profit corporation in the State of New York, whose non-profit corporate name is Theatrical Arts at Forestburgh, Inc. (TAAF). TAAF is a 501(c)(3), tax-exempt organization dedicated to maintaining the rich cultural legacy of the Playhouse and also providing educational opportunities for young people in the region, as well as providing a home base where artists can develop and produce new theatrical works.
We are very proud of the fact that every year, the Forestburgh Playhouse employs over 65 artists and staff, many coming right from Sullivan County. In addition, each year, the Playhouse hires 16 Resident Company actors from conservatories across the country to perform in the mainstage musicals and more. Our Resident Company program is designed to give young actors the opportunity to hone their craft in a professional environment.
