The Playhouse Achieves Its Mission By Creating an Environment Where All Can Grow and Flourish While Creating High-Quality, Professional Theatrical Productions.

The Forestburgh Playhouse Is A 270 Seat Equity LOA Theater, Located within The Beautiful Sullivan Catskills In Forestburgh, New York, Approximately 90 Miles From NYC. The Playhouse Also Includes A Restaurant/Bar/Performance Space Called The Forestburgh Tavern as well as The Playhouse Annex, A Performance Space in the Former St. Thomas Aquinas Church Across the Street from the Playhouse. The Forestburgh Playhouse is Equipped With Small, But Professionally Equipped Scene And Costume Shops, as well as Office Space for Production Planning. 

Every year the Forestburgh Playhouse hires a company of more than 200 people, including actors (Equity and non-Equity), directors, musicians, designers, technicians, box office associates, administrative positions, and restaurant staff (including a chef, a bartender, and kitchen help).  Payroll is issued biweekly; payday is every other Thursday.

Although we are fortunate that some of our staff return from previous years, as is typical in seasonal theatre, there is a fair amount of turnover as staff members mature in their crafts and move on to other opportunities. For summer 2024, contracts for most technical positions will start approximately May 27, 2024 and continue through approximately September 2, 2024.  These dates will shift depending upon position.

Non-equity Resident Company auditions will be held at various Conservatories/College Programs throughout the U.S. and at the A-1 Auditions Conference. Video submissions are welcome. MORE INFO ABOUT THE RESIDENT COMPANY!

Performance: Resident Company Members have enormous performing opportunities at the Playhouse. Each company member is guaranteed to appear in Escape to Margaritaville, The Prom, Beautiful, and Rock of Ages, as well as cabarets and the children's shows, which will be Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka. Possibilities for main stage roles include leads, supporting roles, and ensemble.

Contracts: Most resident actor contracts begin mid-June 2024 and all will extend through August 25, 2024. To be considered for the Resident Company requires a full-contract commitment.

Compensation: Resident actors make $210/week.  The Playhouse also provides housing for the summer, all meals, and the cost of round-trip transportation to and from NYC.

Qualifications: Resident actors must be at least 18 years of age, with excellent singing, dancing, and acting skills, and a professional work ethic.  Due to the nature of our musical season, non-singers and non-dancers cannot be considered.

Auditions: The Forestburgh Playhouse will visit various conservatories/college programs throughout the country, and will attend the A1 Audition Conference in January, 2024, and will accept video submissions (2 contrasting 16 bar selections, brief monologue and dance reel with jazz and tap) until February 10.  Submissions will not be considered after that date.
